Doane Poll
Brazil says if the U.S. is serious about reducing dependence on Middle East oil, we ought to drop our “protectionist” tariff so they can send us their ethanol made from sugarcane instead. Which statement best represents YOUR view?
The tariff should stay so Brazil’s ethanol doesn’t compete with our own and share in tax incentives.

Given a choice, I’d rather see them grow more sugarcane than more soybeans. Let’s take their ethanol.

It’s hard to defend buying oil from OPEC enemies while blocking ethanol from our Brazilian allies.

Last Week's Poll Results
What best describes your current view towards farmers switching intended corn acres to beans if it gets too late?
It's way overdone. There's so much more profit in corn right now that farmers will stick with corn plans to late May if they have to.
53.8%
Trade estimates are about right; 2 or 3 percent of corn intentions may switch to beans after May 15.
29.6%
It's underestimated. High cost of fertilizer AND late planting yield risk will be a double-whammy and 5 or 6 percent of corn intentions may switch to beans.
16.5%
